Cross-Sell summary formulas
This article is for admins and power users who want calculated totals on a Cross-Sell Map. Sellers who only read the grid can skim the example and skip setup.
Relationship Map-only customers do not have Cross-Sell. This page is Crush-only.
What a summary formula is
A summary formula is a calculation that uses existing amount types. The result shows in the map’s row summaries and column summaries.
Formulas are not amount types:
- They do not appear in the amount type filter.
- You cannot enter a formula value on a cell.
- They do not create a tile.
Crush does not ship formulas. You create the ones your org needs.
Write a formula
Surround each amount type name or abbreviation with curly braces, then add the math:
{Current Spend} + {Upside}
or, using abbreviations:
{Current} + {Upside}
Supported math is +, -, *, /, and parentheses. If a referenced amount type is missing or the expression cannot be calculated, the total shows as -.
Create a formula from the map
- Open the Cross-Sell Map.
- Open the gear.
- Click New Summary Formula.
- Enter a Label.
- Enter the Formula.
- Set Display Type (usually Currency).
- Optionally set a Color.
- Check Apply To All Cross-Sell Maps if every map should use it. Otherwise associate it to the maps that need it.
- Save.
The new total appears in Row Summaries and Column Summaries under the summary strip.
You can also create Cross-Sell Summary Formula records directly in Salesforce.
Limitation — the formula section can disappear
If you uncheck every amount type in the map filter, the row and column summary section hides — even when a formula exists.
That is a known product limitation, not an empty-formula state. The section should stay visible when at least one formula exists.
What to do: turn at least one amount type back on in the filter. The formula totals return with the summary accordion.
Errors and edges
- The formula is not in the amount type list. Expected. Look in Row Summaries / Column Summaries.
- The result is “-”. A name in
{braces}does not match an amount type name or abbreviation on this map, or the expression is not valid math. - The formula is missing on another map. Apply To All Cross-Sell Maps is off and that map has no association.
