Cross-Sell data types

This article is for anyone who classifies a Cross-Sell cell with a picklist (for example coverage status or motion), and for the admin who defines those picklists.

Relationship Map-only customers do not have Cross-Sell. This page is Crush-only.

What a data type is

A data type is a picklist that appears in the cell detail panel when you click a cell. It is not an amount. Amounts stay on amount types. Highlights stay on highlights.

Each data type is a Cross-Sell Data Type record. Options are a list of values (one per line). You can create a type from the map or as a record in Salesforce.

Set a value on a cell

  1. Click the cell.
  2. In the panel, find the data type combobox (the label your admin chose).
  3. Pick an option.
  4. Repeat for any other data types on this map.

Both freeform and template maps support data types. The difference is visual:

  • Template: the selected option’s color shows as a colored chip in the cell.
  • Freeform: the value is stored and visible in the panel (and as text on the tile). The option color does not paint the cell.

Create a data type from the map

You need permission to update the map and to create Cross-Sell Data Types.

  1. Open the Cross-Sell Map.
  2. Open the gear.
  3. Click New Data Type.
  4. Enter a Label.
  5. Enter Picklist Values, one option per line.
  6. Set a Color (#RRGGBB) if you want template cells to show a chip in that color.
  7. Check Apply To All Cross-Sell Maps if every map should offer this type. Leave it unchecked to keep the type on this map (or associate it later).
  8. Save.

Create a data type as an object (admin)

  1. In the PROLIFIQ CRUSH app, open Cross-Sell Data Types.
  2. Click New.
  3. Fill Label, Picklist Values, Color, and Apply To All Cross-Sell Maps.
  4. If you did not apply it to all maps, add Cross-Sell Data Type Association related records for each map that should use it.

The field type on the object is Picklist only. Do not expect date, number, or lookup data types on the cell.

Errors and edges

  • New Data Type is missing. You cannot create data types, or you cannot edit this map. Ask an admin.
  • The type is missing on another map. Apply To All Cross-Sell Maps is off and that map has no association. Check the box or add the related record.
  • I set a color but the freeform cell did not change. Expected. Color chips render on template summary cells only.
  • The chip color does not match the option I picked. Color is stored on the data type, not on each option. Use one data type per color you need, or accept a single color per picklist.
