Report on Relationship Map badges

Updated by Prolifiq

This article is for the admin or power user who needs a Salesforce report of Relationship Map badges. When you finish, you have a report that shows Contact, the badge Label, and Relationship Map as names.

This works for both Relationship Map and CRUSH users. You do not need a CRUSH Account Plan to apply badges or to report on them. How people mark cards is in Use badges on a Relationship Map. Other CRUSH and Relationship Map report types are in Report on Prolifiq data in Salesforce.

We recommend the standard report type Relationship Map Badges with RM Svg Node Associations for who has which badge and on which map. If you want your own column names or extra fields, create a custom report type — instructions are below.

Before you start

  • You can create reports. To create a custom report type you also need Setup.
  • At least one person has been marked with Mark card. If nobody has, the report is empty — that is not a broken report type.
  • On Relationship Map Settings, under Relationship Map Features, turn on Enable Badge Reporting on Contact. That writes the Contact lookup when someone marks a Contact card. The setting defaults off. Turn it on before people mark cards; existing assignments are not backfilled.

Use the standard report type

Salesforce creates this type after install because Relationship Map Badge and RM Svg Node Association allow reports. It is not a packaged custom report type.

  1. Open the Reports tab.
  2. Click New Report.
  3. Search Relationship Map Badges with RM Svg Node Associations.
  4. Click Start Report.
  5. Widen the date range on Created Date so older marks are not hidden.
  6. Add these columns (lookup columns show the record name, not the Id):
    • Contact — the person
    • Label — the name in the Mark card menu
    • Relationship Map — the map, when the badge was saved to one
  7. Group by Relationship Map if you want “on which map” as the heading.
  8. Save into a folder other people can reach.

Create a custom report type

Optional. Use this if you want renamed columns, fewer fields, or extra Contact fields. The type you create is unmanaged — you can edit it later. You cannot edit the packaged membership types (Contacts with Relationship Map Members and Relationship Map Members & Contacts).

  1. Click the gear, then Setup.
  2. In Quick Find, enter Report Types. Open Report Types.
  3. Click New Custom Report Type.
  4. Set Primary Object to Relationship Map Badge.
  5. Set Report Type Label to something people will search, for example Relationship Map Badge Assignments.
  6. Leave Report Type Name as Salesforce fills it, or shorten it. This is the API name, not the column header.
  7. Optional: add a description — Who has which badge, and on which map.
  8. Set Store in Category to Other.
  9. Set Deployment Status to Deployed so it appears in New Report. In Development hides it from most users.
  10. Click Next.

Relate the assignment object:

  1. On object A (Relationship Map Badge), click the box to relate another object.
  2. Set object B to RM Svg Node Associations.
  3. Choose Each "A" record must have at least one related "B" record so unused badge definitions drop out.
  4. Click Save.

Edit the layout so builders see names, not Ids:

  1. Click Edit Layout.
  2. Keep a section for the columns you care about. Remove sections you will not use.
  3. From Relationship Map Badge, drag Label into the layout. That is the Mark card name.
  4. From RM Svg Node Association, drag Contact and Relationship Map.
  5. If Label, Contact, or Relationship Map is missing from the field list, click Add fields related via lookup, pick the related object, and add the field.
  6. Double-click each field and set a display name people will recognize: Badge, Contact, Relationship Map.
  7. Do not add Id, Key, or RM Svg Node Association Name unless you are debugging.
  8. Click Save.

Optional lookups you can add the same way: Account Plan (when the mark was saved on a plan), Contact fields such as Title or Account Name.

Then build the report:

  1. Reports tab → New Report.
  2. Search the label you created (Relationship Map Badge Assignments if you used that name).
  3. Click Start Report.
  4. Confirm the columns are Contact, Badge, and Relationship Map.
  5. Group by Relationship Map.
  6. Widen Created Date.
  7. Save.

Considerations

We recommend Relationship Map Badges with RM Svg Node Associations. Use a custom report type only if you need different column names or extra fields.

A blank Relationship Map means the badge is global. On that map, Use Global Badges was on when someone used Mark card. The assignment is stored on the person, not on a map, so the badge appears on every map that person is on. The report cannot list those maps — the Relationship Map field was never written. A named map means Use Global Badges was off, so the badge lives on that map only.

A blank Contact means the lookup was never filled. Enable Badge Reporting on Contact was off when the badge was applied, or the card is a User or Lead. The setting does not backfill old rows. The person is still stored on Key; that value is an Id, so leave Key off the report unless you are debugging.

Automatic badges do not appear. A badge driven by a Contact checkbox (Contact Field API Name) is drawn on the card when the map loads. It never creates an RM Svg Node Association row, so neither the standard type nor a custom type on these objects will show it. Report the Contact checkbox instead.

Each hand-applied Mark card action is one RM Svg Node Association row.
